Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR23B RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR23B’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where MIR23B RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR23B is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUSC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUSC, LUAD, and UCEC are the cancer types where MIR23B tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
