Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR222 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR222’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where MIR222 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR222 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, BLCA, and BRCA are the cancer types where MIR222 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
