Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MIR1296 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MIR1296’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MIR1296 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MIR1296 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, KICH, and BRCA are the cancer types where MIR1296 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
