Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, METTL2A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 17 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of METTL2A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where METTL2A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types METTL2A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, BLCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where METTL2A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
