Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, METTL17 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of METTL17’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where METTL17 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types METTL17 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BRCA and PRAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BLCA, HNSC, and LIHC are the cancer types where METTL17 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
