Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MAT2A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MAT2A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where MAT2A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MAT2A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, BLCA, and KICH are the cancer types where MAT2A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
