Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MAP1LC3A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MAP1LC3A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where MAP1LC3A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MAP1LC3A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, KIRP, and BLCA are the cancer types where MAP1LC3A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
