Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MAFF RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MAFF’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA), where MAFF RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MAFF is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as BLCA and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
BLCA, UCEC, and LUAD are the cancer types where MAFF tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
