Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, MACROH2A1 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 17 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of MACROH2A1’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where MACROH2A1 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types MACROH2A1 is over-expressed in tumor.

KIRC, BLCA, and COAD are the cancer types where MACROH2A1 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
