Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, KRT8P9 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of KRT8P9’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where KRT8P9 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types KRT8P9 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and READ show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, LUAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where KRT8P9 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
