Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, KRT18P23 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of KRT18P23’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD), where KRT18P23 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types KRT18P23 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as PAAD and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

STAD, COAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where KRT18P23 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
