Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, KCNJ11 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of KCNJ11’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where KCNJ11 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types KCNJ11 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and BLCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, KIRC, and LIHC are the cancer types where KCNJ11 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
