Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HSD17B6 RNA is linked to patient survival in 21 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated HSD17B6 data layer compared with 3 for mutation status and 3 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where higher HSD17B6 RNA is associated with worse disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated HSD17B6 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SKCM and UCS show a favorable association.
KIRP, SKCM, and UCS are the cancer types where HSD17B6 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
