Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HSD17B3 RNA is linked to patient survival in 22 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated HSD17B3 data layer compared with 4 for mutation status.

The strongest signal is observed in skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM), where higher HSD17B3 RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated HSD17B3 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as SKCM and STAD show a favorable association.

SKCM, LGG, and KICH are the cancer types where HSD17B3 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
