Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HP1BP3 mass-spec protein differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 5 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HP1BP3’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where HP1BP3 mass-spec protein is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HP1BP3 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and PDAC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, PDAC, and COAD are the cancer types where HP1BP3 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
