Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HOATZ RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HOATZ’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where HOATZ RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HOATZ is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, THCA, and LUAD are the cancer types where HOATZ tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
