Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HMGB1P45 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HMGB1P45’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where HMGB1P45 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HMGB1P45 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUSC, THCA, and KIRC are the cancer types where HMGB1P45 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
