Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HLA-L RNA is linked to patient survival in 21 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated HLA-L data layer.

The strongest signal is observed in mesothelioma (MESO), where higher HLA-L RNA is associated with better overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated HLA-L expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as MESO and SKCM show a favorable association.

MESO, SKCM, and LGG are the cancer types where HLA-L RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
