Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HIGD1C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HIGD1C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where HIGD1C RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HIGD1C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, THCA, and BRCA are the cancer types where HIGD1C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
