Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HHAT RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 15 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HHAT’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where HHAT RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HHAT is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, LIHC, and BRCA are the cancer types where HHAT tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
