Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HEMGN RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HEMGN’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where HEMGN RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HEMGN is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LUAD, and COAD are the cancer types where HEMGN tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
