Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, HEATR5A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of HEATR5A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where HEATR5A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types HEATR5A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and COAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, COAD, and THCA are the cancer types where HEATR5A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
