Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, H3P23 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 6 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of H3P23’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where H3P23 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types H3P23 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, LUAD, and BRCA are the cancer types where H3P23 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
