Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, GDE1 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 13 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of GDE1’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal papillary cell carcinoma (KIRP), where GDE1 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types GDE1 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as COAD and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRP, COAD, and LIHC are the cancer types where GDE1 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
