Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FICD RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FICD’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where FICD RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FICD is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and LUSC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, LIHC, and LUSC are the cancer types where FICD tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
