Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM83A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM83A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where FAM83A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM83A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and PRAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LUAD, LUSC, and HNSC are the cancer types where FAM83A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
