Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM66E RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM66E’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where FAM66E RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM66E is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and UCEC show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, UCEC, and KIRP are the cancer types where FAM66E tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
