Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM172A RNA is linked to patient survival in 26 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated FAM172A data layer compared with 4 for mutation status and 6 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where higher FAM172A RNA is associated with better disease-free survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated FAM172A expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as KIRC and HNSC show a favorable association.
KIRC, KICH, and HNSC are the cancer types where FAM172A RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
