Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM166C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM166C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where FAM166C RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM166C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KICH and THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, KICH, and THCA are the cancer types where FAM166C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
