Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM13A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM13A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where FAM13A RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM13A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and LIHC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
KIRC, THCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where FAM13A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
