Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, FAM133A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of FAM133A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where FAM133A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types FAM133A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, KICH, and LIHC are the cancer types where FAM133A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
