Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, DYRK1A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of DYRK1A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where DYRK1A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types DYRK1A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, KICH, and LIHC are the cancer types where DYRK1A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
