Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, DEFA6 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 8 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of DEFA6’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where DEFA6 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types DEFA6 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as STAD and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, STAD, and LUAD are the cancer types where DEFA6 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
