Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, CYP26A1 RNA is linked to patient survival in 22 of 34 cancer types, making it the most broadly survival-associated CYP26A1 data layer compared with 7 for mutation status and 1 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where higher CYP26A1 RNA is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated CYP26A1 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as CESC and LUSC show a favorable association.
KIRC, ACC, and KIRP are the cancer types where CYP26A1 RNA most reproducibly stratifies survival.
