CEL

Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, CEL RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 9 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of CEL’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), where CEL RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types CEL is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.

COAD, KIRC, and KIRP are the cancer types where CEL tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
