Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, CD55 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 12 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of CD55’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where CD55 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types CD55 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and LUAD show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, KIRC, and LUAD are the cancer types where CD55 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
