Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, CD44 Mutation is linked to patient survival in 3 of 34 cancer types, making it a survival-associated CD44 data layer compared with 26 for mass-spec protein and 7 for mass-spec protein.
The strongest signal is observed in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), where higher CD44 Mutation is associated with worse overall survival. In most high-consensus cancer types, elevated CD44 expression acts as an unfavorable survival marker, although some lineages such as UCEC show a favorable association.
LUSC, LIHC, and UCEC are the cancer types where CD44 Mutation most reproducibly stratifies survival.
