Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, C8A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of C8A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where C8A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types C8A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LIHC and CHOL show the opposite, repressed pattern.

LIHC, CHOL, and THCA are the cancer types where C8A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
