Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, C5orf38 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 10 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of C5orf38’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), where C5orf38 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types C5orf38 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as LUAD and KIRC show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LUAD, KIRC, and KICH are the cancer types where C5orf38 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
