Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, BTBD17 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of BTBD17’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where BTBD17 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types BTBD17 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and BRCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, BRCA, and LIHC are the cancer types where BTBD17 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
