Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, BNIP3P20 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 3 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of BNIP3P20’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where BNIP3P20 RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types BNIP3P20 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA show the opposite, repressed pattern.
THCA, KIRC, and BLCA are the cancer types where BNIP3P20 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
