Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ARL5A RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 7 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ARL5A’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in thyroid carcinoma (THCA), where ARL5A RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ARL5A is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as THCA and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

THCA, LIHC, and CHOL are the cancer types where ARL5A tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
