Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ADRA2C RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 14 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ADRA2C’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.

The strongest signal is observed in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), where ADRA2C RNA is repressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ADRA2C is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KICH show the opposite, repressed pattern.

KIRC, KICH, and COAD are the cancer types where ADRA2C tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
