Across TCGA pan-cancer cohorts, ACOT8 RNA differs between tumor and matched normal tissue in 11 of 18 cancer types tested, making tumor–normal expression one of ACOT8’s most consistent transcriptional readouts.
The strongest signal is observed in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), where ACOT8 RNA is more highly expressed in tumor relative to normal tissue. In most cancer types ACOT8 is over-expressed in tumor, although a few such as KIRC and KIRP show the opposite, repressed pattern.
LIHC, HNSC, and BLCA are the cancer types where ACOT8 tumor–normal differential expression is most reproducible.
